You are reading this because you need to make money and the idea of working at home sounds great. This is not a get rich quick article. If you tend to believe those “You can make $100,000 in a week” blasts from the piles of trash that comes through on the Internet you might as well stop reading now. Work at home means exactly that, you have to work. The good thing about this is that you just might like doing it. Grab a piece of paper and a pen. We’ve got a couple things for you to do and think about.
What do you love to do? What comes first to your mind? Only you can answer this question. Write it on the paper. Why do you love to do it? Really think about that and write it down for me. Now answer some more questions.
Could I teach others about what I do? Could I write these lessons. Could I actually teach a class of people at home or at the location where the activity can be done?
Could I make a product or kit related to what I love to do?
Do I truly love it enough to make it a career that could earn money?
Have I got you thinking? I love writing and making things. I have done both since childhood. I made craft items when I was nine or ten years old and sold them to adults at church. I sold seeds at school and got used to selling things to others. I learned at an early age to do something I loved and make money doing it. Perhaps you love to bake, watch movies or go fly fishing. You could go in so many different directions with this and make money from home with it.
For example you could work at home and make money with your love of baking by writing and selling recipes. You could submit them on line at a site that buys your articles on baking. You could also teach classes in your home. A lot of people do not know how to bake. You are the expert. You love to bake and that will shine through as you share your gift with others. Would you have patience to teach children? There is a great market out there. Parents pay money to have their children go to activities that keep them busy and learn something valuable. If you want to practice hands on baking and would love to do it daily start an in home business and sell the baking products you believe in. See, just with this one thing a person loves to do there are a number of options to explore to make money at home with it.
Who works at home and earns money?
Parents can work at home When I got engaged my fiance and I discussed the fact that if we were to have children we both wanted me to stay at home with them. We got married and within a few years we had two boys to love, cherish and care for. I had work at home all right! For a while there wasn’t much time or energy to do my business part of the work at home life. Mothers and fathers can work at home. Be aware that it is very hard to do with infants and small children. You have to swerve everything to the side and take a good look at what can honestly be done when your time belongs to little ones who depend on you 24 hours a day. Here is the time that writing will make more sense if you are able to do it. In my experience a parent working at home with infants may be earning a stipend compared to a full blown income. As the children grow and go to school it gives a parent more hours to put into earning an income from home.
Workers with physical or medical conditions If you have a medical condition it may be ideal for you to work at home. My best friend has a rare form of muscular dystrophy. She learned to knit on a machine. She made gorgeous blankets, sweaters and other items to sell. It gave a feeling of self worth during a time that she was still able to function and work physically. She earned money that paid bills and bought groceries. I have chronic ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease and it is hugely important to me to be able to earn an income at home as my children have grown into their teen years.
Anyone can work at home I have worked at home for nearly all of my teen and adult years. I formally started a florist business at age 19. I sold my oil paintings, crafts and floral work at craft fairs and out of my business. Before I was 25 I had the thrill of knowing my items were in homes all over the state and even out of the country. Now with the Internet there is limitless access to customers compared to those days. My mother has sold Avon for over 35 years and is a seamstress. She has made wedding dresses, altered clothes and done clothing repairs for people who came to her at her home. Her parents had a truck garden in the 1930’s. They grew and sold vegetables which was sold to a local canning company. Work at home is not a new thing. Think about it. Nearly all businesses started at home.
You can work at home You have to be willing to work hard to work at home. There is no supervisor in your home. It’s all up to you. You have to be self motivated. You have to have a place and some sort of schedule to work at home. You must plan and set yourself up for success. There are basically two avenues when working at home. Either you work for yourself or for a business that expects you to produce for them. Your success and possible income is totally in your hands.
