Families who are considering getting a family pet dog should carefully make this decision. Not all breeds of dogs are alright to have as the family pet.
There are certain types of dogs that are more temperamental than the others. Do your research on the personalities of different breeds of dogs before choosing your new pet.
The reason why I say this is because certain breeds of dogs are just not the safest to have around your kids. Children, especially younger children and toddlers, are likely to pull on the dogs ears a time or two. A toddler will get their face close to your pet dog. When they do so you really don’t want that dog to snap and bite them.
All children who are around dogs should be taught dog rules. These rules should include not bothering the dog while he or she is eating, and to never, ever be mean to the dog. When children are mean to a dog the dog may snap. You can not guarantee that your kid won’t ever throw a stick for Fido to fetch and accidentally hit them with it. Certain types of dogs will take this more personally than others. Some dogs are just not so playful. It is better to choose a type of dog that is family friendly. You need to be able to feel that your children are going to be safe if they put their face next to the dogs or if they grab for a handful of the dogs food while they are eating. Children are so unpredictable, especially toddlers. Who’s to say that your toddler won’t be in the middle of a tantrum and hit Fido. If he’s a breed of dog that is known to be snappy he would then snap and possibly bite your baby. Kids are kids and the type of dog you choose needs to be one that is kid friendly.
Family friendly dogs don’t really care when a toddler pulls their ear or take a piece of their food. Other types of dogs will snap at children if they do such things.
Temperamental breeds of dogs are just that…temperamental. They are known to be moody. You never know when they’ll snap and that is just not something you want around children. Do your research on specific breeds of dogs before you choose your new pet. Some types of dogs are just better to not choose as family pets.
Keeping their children safe is a parents main priority. Carefully choosing the type of dog you get is just another way of doing that. Always think of how any decision will affect your kids. Don’t bring something into your home that could pose any type of threat to your kids. Many dog bites can be prevented. Prevent your children from being bit by a temperamental breed of dog by not choosing to own one. Thanks for reading and take care!
