This adorable project is incredibly easy, and is a good way to transform a board game that is missing a few pieces into something a little more useful! Add additional details as desired to make a perfect gift or Valentine’s Day home décor accent.
For this project, you will need:
– 3″ square glass votive holder (such as this one found online at Save-On-Crafts)
– Delta Ceramcoat Paint in Bubblegum Opaque
– Delta Ceramcoat Paint in White Semi-Opaque
– Scrabble Board Game tiles, spelling out “love”
– Delta Perm Enamel Air Dry Surface Conditioner
– Delta Perm Enamel Air Dry Paint in Red Red
– Delta Perm Enamel Air Dry Clear Gloss
– Sponge brush
– Fine tipped artist’s paintbrush
– Hot glue gun and glue sticks
– Soap and water
– Paper towels
– White, pink, or red votive candle
This project can be slightly messy, so the first step taken should be coating your workspace with an adequate amount of newspaper. Wash the glass votive holder with soap and water. Dry the holder well with paper towels.
Coat the entire glass votive holder with Delta Perm Enamel Air Dry Surface Conditioner, using a sponge brush. Set the candleholder aside to dry completely.
Lay each of the Scrabble Board Game tiles flat on your workspace. With the sponge brush and Delta Ceramcoat Paint in Bubblegum Opaque, coat the “L” and “V” tiles entirely in paint. Set aside to dry. Repeat the process with the Delta Ceramcoat Paint in White Semi-Opaque and the “O” and “E” tiles. Dry completely. With the fine tipped artist’s paintbrush, fill in the letter detail. This should be done with the alternate color paint. (I.e. white on pink; pink on white.) Set aside to dry.
Apply two thick coats of Delta Perm Enamel Air Dry Paint in Red Red to the glass votive holder. Allow the red paint to dry about an hour before adding a thick coat of Delta Perm Enamel Air Dry Clear Gloss. Dry for about an hour.
Using the hot glue gun and glue sticks, adhere the letter tiles onto the side of the red glass votive holder spelling out the word “love”. Allow the glue to dry before adding a red, pink, or white votive holder and enjoying!
TIP: If you don’t have an old Scrabble Board Game sitting around and don’t want to purchase a whole new game, consider being thrifty! Many yard sales or junk stores have old games that might be missing extra tiles and are perfect for crafts.
