San Diego is a city where it is hard to be bored. With plenty of night life spots such as pubs, bars, and great restaurants where trivia nights are held, one can without a doubt say that San Diego is one of California’s epicenters for amusement in grand style. Here are some of the places for fun and trivia games.
Shakespeare’s Pub and Grille 3701 India Street, San Diego, California 619-299-0230
At this San Diego’s’ original British Pub, it is quiz night every last Sunday of the month beginning at 7pm and ending at about 9pm. The quiz covers General Knowledge, History, Music, and Entertainment. Hosted by Ruthless Thomas, the show is said to usher in large crowds to the extent that by 7pm, most seats are already filled. The quiz can be taken in teams of up to six people, with the winner getting a $75 gift certificate to the pub and the runner up getting a $50 certificate also to the pub. The event is a very popular one so if you plan to attend, be there before 7 to get a seat. Shakespeare’s has the most esteemed of the entire bar games here listed. And why not, it’s named after arguably the most esteemed of all writers.
Dublin Square 554 4th Street San Diego, California 619-239-5818
It looks like battle of the European pubs, but here is an Irish pub in San Diego that houses the Victorian lounge in its interior. Wow! This pub has its trivia on Tuesday nights with quiz master Allen Walker. You can team up with friends to compete for prizes, which varies from night to night. Prizes include collection of cool pint glass. I say this one does provide plenty of Irish eats, but neither the trivia game nor its prizes stand up to Shakespeare’s. However, it is a great place for truly authentic Irish experience, with all the corned beef and cabbages you can devour, and the real deal in Guinness.
The Bitter End 770 Fifth Avenue San Diego California 619-338-9300
The name is ironic, because there is nothing bitter about this Downtown San Diego Pub which occupies a building that is so historic, it is over a century years old. Bitter End has plenty of things to keep you entertained including its weekly trivia which it holds on Tuesday nights. With spacious floor and beautiful ambiance, this place is known to pack up quickly. The trivia game night attracts various people from all walks of life, military people, middle aged people, young men and women from various backgrounds, and so much more. It is simply a great place for fun, people watching, and dancing with friends.
Winston’s Beach Club 1921 Bacon Street San Diego, California 619-222-6822
Holds its “Think and Drink” trivia nights on Tuesdays after 6pm. As a winner of the trivia, you get all the booze you can hold. I still think Shakespeare holds better.
Big Bertha’s 1165 Garnet Avenue San Diego, California 858-373-3474
Big Bertha’s serves big burgers and for its Tuesday trivia, rewards its winner with bar peanuts. I’d say stick with Shakespeare or hit the Square.
Scolari’s Office 3936 30th Street San Diego, California 619-296-3546
Although it has a rousing game of trivia every other Monday, Scolari’s is best known for its karaoke. The atmosphere is for ages 21 and over and caters to hip, punk, rock, and underground tastes of music. It is a great place for fun, prize or no prize.
