Trading Spaces is bringing Paige Davis back to the show. The sweetheart of Do It Yourself television is returning to Trading Spaces after being fired from the show three years ago. I have no idea why they let her go. I am an avid Do It Yourselfer and watcher of every home decorating show on television. Honestly. I watched the show sink to the bottom of the rating pile of home decorating shows after Paige left. Her bubbly, flirtatious personality brought both male and female to the tube and kept them coming back.
Once Paige left and the “designers” took over the show, things went a little over the top. Just in case the developers of this show don’t know it, people that want home deco want real decorating stuff, real ideas, not grass and feathers on the wall. They certainly do not want a fake-flower bomb exploding in their bathroom. There is a difference here that they are missing. Home deco people want ideas, not drama. Reality based drama people don’t want home decorating ideas. Bulletin … that would be two different shows.
Nonetheless, it looks like Hildi will still be around. If I remember correctly, she does know how to decorate a room…but I may have her confused with someone that does not mount the furniture on the ceiling.
Rumor has it that they will still be doing two houses, still doing the trading gig, but not with friends this time. It seems like this time around it will be with people that don’t like each other. For example they will have ex’s trading spaces with each other, people that have been fired from their jobs will trade places with the person that fired them. Sounds more like grudge matching than home decorating to me.
Sorry Paige, I do like you and I know it’s not your fault, but I just don’t know if I can sit through an hour of watching people trash each other’s homes. In the last few years the show went from doing homes that really need a do over, to doing new homes that don’t need much help. I wonder if they are going to trash these new houses or will they go back to doing the old houses again? My bet is they go back to the older homes.
Okay, go ahead and count me out. I’ll stay with the real home decoration shows, the ones that through the years have managed to out rank Trading Spaces on the charts by actually doing nice things to people’s homes. You know the ones I mean, the shows that have designers that really decorate.
I’ll get my drama elsewhere…when I am not looking for decorating ideas.
