As a mother of two children myself, I can offer some tips and advice on how to lose weight, control hunger and keep fit after having a child. A year after having my second child, I am 111 pounds and 5′ 2. I have managed to maintain that weight now for several months. It’s not easy though. Controlling hunger and maintaining your weight is harder than it looks. It requires time, dedication and self control.
First things first. I know you all hate to hear it but you have to exercise. You cannot loose the weight and keep it off if you are not active. Join a gym or run every morning. You must keep physically active to loose the weight at least a few times a week. Not only will this aid in weight loss but it will keep you heart healthy too. Cardio will burn lots of calories as well as some weight lifting. When you exercise do not over do it by pushing yourself too hard, but you must break a sweat and be putting forth a great deal of effort. You cannot go carelessly through the movements and expect to see results. They call it working out for a reason, its work.
Second, make sure you are getting all the appropriate vitamins and minerals you need everyday. The easiest way to do this is to take multi vitamins which can be purchased at almost every grocery store. Be sure to get adequate fiber intake too, this will also help to loose weight if taken properly. You can also get an idea of what you may need to do for vitamins and exercise if you go to www.realage.com. This website I found helpful in giving me the information I needed to keep my body healthy.
Third, is you must always eat right. That means no candy bars, greasy foods, potato chips or hamburgers. I know it sounds harsh but if you are serious about losing weight or maintaining it, you have to stop eating that stuff. It’s not good for you. Try filling up on a slim fast shake and an apple if you get the urge to binge eat. There is no excuse for a person to eat that kind of stuff. You can make a run to a grocery store and buy fruit or health bars instead of stopping by McDonalds for lunch. Now once in a while is alright to have a hamburger, but have it as a treat a couple times a month not every day. Eat chicken and turkey. Lay off the red meat. Brown rice and wheat breads will keep you fuller longer as well as not fill you full of useless carbs. Also, eat salad. There are plenty of different kinds of salad dressings out there to tickle your fancy, just be sure you get the light or fat free version or it’s not worth having it at all. If you are really fighting hunger pains, vinegar on salad will ease them away.
Last but not least, drink plenty of water and eat throughout the day. If you snack on healthy food in small amounts throughout the day, you will most likely not blow your diet. Try snacking on a bowl of blueberries at lunch, then an apple, banana, maybe some raisins. If you’re still hungry, try drinking a protein shake. These can be very filling and have less sugar than a slim fast. If you are addicted to candy bars, try purchasing those health bars instead. You will get your chocolate fix and vitamins too. You knock out two birds with one stone!! Look at sugar content in items, less sugar is just as equally important as is less calories and fat.
Being healthy and staying fit is not a destination; it’s a way of life. You must be willing to make the proper choices when picking foods and be willing to stay active.
It’s all really common sense and not as complicated as people make it out to be. If you think you shouldn’t be eating it, then don’t. Instead of parking close to the store, park at the end of the parking lot. Walk more; give your body the exercise it needs. You need to burn off what you eat. You can’t expect to loose weight if you eat all day then only walk ten feet. It takes motivation and the willingness to succeed. The end result will be worth it.
