Every year in Chicago, the city has an event called, the Taste of Chicago. I really love this event, and the diverse group of people that visit Chicago because of this big-popular event. At the Taste of Chicago, it’s not just about the good food, it’s about the feeling of community that I get whenever I go. First of all, every since I was a teenager, the event has been held in Grant Park. Now. Which is located downtown, giving both residents, and visitors the convenience of riding on Public Transportation. Why will this topic be relevant to consumers next year? Well, it’s because of the community’s from all around the world that come to visit Chicago, purely for this event. The Musical guest that entertain us every year are usually well known artist in American. Grant park is located: 296 south Columbus drive, and the dates are from June 27th to July 6th ever year, and can be found on the Internet. In addition, some of the food from the Taste can be ordered from the internet, and shipped to consumers homes.
I can remember, about three years back, riding on the Metra Train, trying to get home from work. Now, I worked in a city in Illinois, called Elgin, at the time. On this day, I was very tired on this day, and was ready to go home, and had forgotten that the Taste of Chicago had started on this same week. I was very good on the train, at this point, in my own private space, until, I felt a hand touching my braided hair. Which caused me to Intermediately wake up, and when I did I saw that I was surrounded by a Caucasian woman with Blond hair, and her two small, pre- school aged daughters. While one of her daughters was playing with the braids in my hair, the other was siting in the seat that was right across from me, swinging her little feet and softly kicking my knees.
Meanwhile, the mother was just smiling at me, and talking to me about her excitement for going to the Taste of Chicago. And then it hit me suddenly, that everyone on that train could possibly be going to the Taste of Chicago, and I wasn’t happen about that, because I was seated in such an uncomfortable place on the train. On top of that I was tired because I had been working for about nine hours, and I really didn’t feel like talking. Up until this in my life I had very been that close to a Caucasian family before. However, she had her daughter sitting in the seat with me, so, she was particularly sitting on my lap, her other daughter feet stayed on my knees. However, my feeling’ s of frustruction changed when I saw she, and her daughters wrap their arms around each other , and hug one another tight. Also, I figured out that besides this women, and her two daughters , I problably was one of the only sober people left on the Metra train.
Not to mention, the train was loud, and cheerful. The train conductor walked inside of our train car, and announced that this train was running express to the Taste of Chicago, which, was a good thirty minutes away at that point , in our trip. I wanted to scream because when a train runs express, it will not stop until it reaches it’s destination. However, when I looked at the nice, friendly family that I had around me, I couldn’t do anything but smile back, and treat them with respect. In addition, at this point in the trip to the city of Chicago, I started getting excited with this family, about going to the Taste of Chicago. I came to realize that, maybe I was starting to take that event for granted, and here was a family seated with me, that had never been to the Taste of Chicago before, and was excited about going. After all, I realized that the taste of Chicago event is not just about the food, it’s about the people that you meet, and see from all different walks of life.
