A few years ago, the world was totally unfamiliar with brothers Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas, who make up the singing group known as the Jonas Brothers. However, in the past year or so, the boys have exploded onto the music scene in a big way, and suddenly, the Jonas Brothers are a hot commodity, along with other popular young stars like Miley Cyrus.
The Rise of the Jonas Brothers
What contributed to the Jonas Brothers’ meteoric rise in popularity? Their first album released in the summer of 2006 was not a success and the Jonas Brothers struggled financially, but a year later, the band was picked up by record label Hollywood Records. Hollywood Records also works with performers like Miley Cyrus, and this opened the door for the Jonas Brothers to go on tour with the young star.
After the Jonas Brothers opened for Miley Cyrus on the wildly popular and sold-out Hannah Montana tour, their popularity skyrocketed, and they saw their second album, Jonas Brothers, go platinum. Appearances on the talk shows Ellen and Oprah, the Hannah Montana series, Dancing with the Stars and 2008 New Year’s Rockin’ Eve also helped the Jonas Brothers become a household name.
What’s Next for the Jonas Brothers
The Jonas Brothers are launching some new projects in the summer and fall of 2008 that will surely boost the popularity of Nick, Joe and Kevin.
In June 2008, the Jonas Brothers star in Camp Rock, a Disney Channel movie that has the flavor of the runaway hit High School Musical. Joe Jonas stars as Shane Gray, a spoiled rock star, and Jonas brothers Kevin and Nick are members of the band who teach Shane a lesson by arranging for him to become a music teacher at a summer camp. Also in the cast is rising star Demi Lovato, who plays Mitchie, Shane Gray’s love interest in Camp Rock.
Also new for the Jonas Brothers is The Burning Up Tour, which begins on Fourth of July 2008, and the Jonas Brothers third album, called A Little Bit Longer, is set for release in August 2008.
If all that isn’t enough to satisfy Jonas Brothers fans, Joe, Nick and Kevin are the stars of a new reality show on The Disney Channel. This reality show will reveal what goes on in the everyday life of the Jonas Brothers, and also includes little brother Frankie (also known as the “Bonus Jonas”).
Finally, in the fall of 2008, the Jonas Brothers will begin production on the television series J.O.N.A.S.: Junior Operatives Networking as Spies. The boys are certainly, as the Jonas Brothers like to say: “living the dream.” These new projects will certainly satisfy eager fans that can’t get enough of the growing Jonas Brothers phenomenon.
