Most top democrats have already thrown their support to one candidate or another. The two big democrat presidential candidates for this primary are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. These two presidential hopefuls are also the two presidential candidates that are most often given support from fellow democrats.
The most recent news of a presidential endorsement that has been given is that of the recent Kennedy endorsements given to Barack Obama on his way to becoming the democratic candidate for president. Barack Obama is not the only one to get backing from a Kennedy but he has a majority of the family supporting him and the strongest members are behind him.
Hillary Clinton did get the endorsement from the son of Robert Kennedy but her endorsement is not strong because he is the lone Kennedy to endorse her. Another reason this endorsement is weak is because he has no real political clout or experience, and while his father was an important and well-loved man who was assonated on his way to what would have likely been the win of the presidential primary that does not mean a lot.
The Kennedy endorsements that Barack Obama has are much stronger then the only one that Hillary has. The most recent endorsement that Barack Obama has gotten was from Ted Kennedy. This is a major endorsement. Ted Kennedy holds a historically important senatorial seat that has been held by men like Adams, Webster, and J.F.K. Ted Kennedy’s senate seat is considered a stepping-stone to the presidency as it has been in the past. While this is for the actual holder of the seat the backing from someone who has this position is important.
The other backing by a Kennedy is of Caroline Kennedy. Caroline Kennedy does not have any political clout but she is the daughter of one of the nations and of the democratic parties most loved presidents. Caroline Kennedy was a member of Camelot and the sole surviving child of former President JFK. Her backing is more important then Robert Kennedy’s son.
These are not the only supporters that Barack Obama has received. The most important supporter that Barack Obama got was from his first supporter Oprah Winfrey. Oprah Winfrey has no political power but she is one of the wealthiest and most influential women in the world. Oprah Winfrey’s backing of Barack Obama made it possible for an unheard of (outside of his state) junior senator from Illinois to run for president.
Barack Obama has also gotten more support from the commonwealth of Massachusetts. Senator and former presidential hopeful and democratic pick John Kerry, which is another major political boon for Barack Obama.
Hillary Clinton does not have the same amount of political endorsements as Barack Obama. She does have the endorsement of her husband the former president Bill Clinton. While a former president especially one who is loved by his party would normally be useful in the case of Hillary I think it is a not any real help because he is her husband unless he supported another candidate his support would not hold much weight.
I think that the support is mainly going to Barack Obama. I think part of this is the other people personally know Hillary Clinton and don’t really like her and they know what she is politically about and don’t like her.
I think that Hillary has realized that she is getting in trouble now. She had to leave South Caroline because she knew she had lost that state and on CNN the other day she was at a church speaking and it was obvious she was trying real hard to get the African American vote with talk of Nelson Mandela and bringing up the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Such tactics are obvious and I do not think her tactics will not fool the African American public. Just watching her talk it’s a show and unlike her husband who is known as a great public speaker Hillary is not so charismatic or good a speaker. You can see that she hears the knell of the requiem bell tolling for her presidential aspirations.
