Tom Brady VS Eli Manning:
Hmm lets see we have a 3 time super bowl champion coming off his best season and a young quarter back in his first Super Bowl who is also coming off his best season. As great as Eli manning has been in these playoffs you can’t bank a Super Bowl performance on a couple playoff games. Tom Brady is the tried and true.
Advantage: Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Patriots Wide Receivers VS Giants Secondary:
Randy Moss, Wes Welker Vs Sam Madison, Aaron Ross, James Butler, and Gibril Wilson
Randy Moss 98 receptions 1493 yards 23 touch downs
Wes Welker 112 receptions 1175 yards 8 touch downs
Sam Madison 67 tackles 4 interceptions
Aaron Ross 42 tackles 3 interceptions
James Butler: 61 tackles 4 interceptions
Gibril Wilson: 92 tackles 4 interceptions
The Giants secondary isn’t to much to brag about, while the Patriots receivers are absolutely spectacular.
Advantage: New England Patriots.
Giants Wide Receivers VS Patriots Secondary:
Plexico Burres, Amoni Tumor VS
Plexico Burres 70 receptions 1025 yards 12 touch downs
Amoni Tumor 59 receptions 760 yards 3 touch downs
Ellis Hobs 63 tackles 1 interception
Asante Samuel 44 tackles 6 interceptions
Rodney Harrison 68 tackles 1 interception
James Sanders 71 tackles 2 interceptions
The stats don’t reflect two huge lingering factors that can’t be accounted for on paper.
First off Bill Belichick likes to use multiple backs and nickel formations in addition to disrupting timing routs. The Patriots linebackers are so well rounded that the linebackers can effectively drop back into coverage to disrupt passes.
The Giants on the other hand have a huge size advantage with wide receiver Plexico Bures who stand 6’5 while the New England Patriots cornerbacks all stand under 6 feet tall.
Advantage: New York Giants
The Giants have a great defensive line but the Patriots have a great offensive line to trump any advantage.
The Patriots have Kevin Faulk a very crafty and skilled veteran running back and coming out of the back field to throw to giving the Pats another valuable advantage.
Considering that the New England Patriots have proven to be the best passing offense ever I would have to say the. To many factors give the New England Patriots the advantage on the passing end. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible for the New York Giants to out play the New England Patriots on this specific day. Remember this is football and any given Sunday anything can happen. Plus the Giants do have two wild cards in Plaxico Bures’s size advantage and not knowing exactly how good Eli Manning will be.
Advantage: New England Patriots
