This adorable swirled clover apron is perfect for the cook or crafter in your life this St. Patrick’s Day! Add additional details as desired. Keep for yourself, or give as a fantastic and fun gift idea!
For this project, you will need:
– Unfinished white bib apron (such as the one found here at Save On Crafts)
– Sponge brush
– Artist’s paintbrush
– ‘Swirled Clovers’ Mounted Rubber Stamp (found online here at Stampin.com)
– Delta CeramCoat Textile Medium
– Delta CeramCoat Paint in Green Isle Semi-Opaque
– Delta CeramCoat Paint in Kelly Green Semi-Opaque
– Paper Plate
– Coffee stir stick
– Fabric pencil
– 1″ green satin ribbon
– Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Due to the messiness of the paint involved in this project, it is recommended to begin the project by coating your workspace with a thick layer of newspaper.
Using the ruler, measure off the entire apron into a grid like pattern with squares matching the size of the rubber stamp print. Mark these areas lightly using the fabric pencil.
Apply a half dollar amount size blob of Delta CeramCoat Textile Medium to the paper plate. Add a similar sized amount of Delta CeramCoat Paint in Green Isle Semi-Opaque. Mix the paint and medium together completely using the coffee stir stick.
Lay the unfinished white bib apron flat on your workspace. With the sponge brush, apply a generous amount of the Green Isle paint to the back of the rubber stamp. Gently press the stamp to the first apron square to imprint the clover image. Apply additional paint to the stamp and repeat with the next square. Continue this process until the entire apron has been stamped. Let the paint dry for one to two hours.
Apply another dab of Delta CeramCoat Textile Medium to the paper plate. Add Delta CeramCoat Paint in Kelly Green Semi-Opaque to the textile medium and mix well. With the artist’s paintbrush, fill in shading details of the stamped clovers as desired. Let the apron dry for another one to two hours.
With scissors, cut off the tie ends of the apron. Cut two lengths of 1″ satin ribbon. Heat up the hot glue gun and glue sticks. Attach the ribbon in the same area the tie ends once were with hot glue. Let the glue dry completely before using.
TIP: For an extra special treat, use an acrylic paint pen (such as Krylon Paint Pen in 18K Gold) to write a special St. Patrick’s Day message!
