I had been to many social and community meals and had tried the various recipes of Betty Crocker’s Suddenly Salad. However, I had never made one myself. Recently, our store had a sale to promote Betty Crocker’s Suddenly Salad. My wife and I decided to purchase and try it for ourselves. The sale was 5 for $5.
We discovered that there were six types of Suddenly Salad types. There is the Caesar, Classic, Creamy Parmesan, Creamy Italian, Chipotie, and Ranch and Bacon. We decided to get one of each. Suddenly Salad is a Pasta type of mix. Each one comes in a 7.5 ounce box.. The back of the box has a three step direction for making it. At the bottom of the back, they also have a special recipe.
One side of the box has the nutrition facts that I will get into later. The other side has even more ideas of how to serve the Pasta Salad.
Preparing the Suddenly Salad is very simple. First you bring a 3-quart (or larger) saucepan 2/3 full to a boil. Empty the Pasta Salad into the boiling water. Reduce the heat so that it is slightly boiling and cook for 12 minutes. Stir occasionally. Second Drain and rinse with cold water. Shake to drain well. Last, stir together the seasoning mix and 1/2 cup of mayonnaise in a medium bowl. Now stir in the mixture into the Pasta Salad. If desired, add a diced or chopped tomato. If you would like the salad to be creamier, add a couple teaspoons of milk.
You can serve immediately or put it in the refrigerator to chill.

The ingredients vary with each different box you use. For example, the Ranch and Bacon has imitation bacon bits in it. However all pasta mixes have wheat flour, soybean oil, water, salt, sugar, imitation and natural flavors, (peas, buttermilk, and carrot), garlic, corn starch, and cheddar cheese.
The Betty Crocker web site has a web page set up for the six Suddenly Salad products. That page gives six different ways to serve the Suddenly Salad as a meal or as part of a meal. It gives very simple meal suggestions for the use of the salad with a meal as well. One recipe even told you how to use the mix to make a layered salad by adding things like grilled chicken and fresh strawberries.
The web site also provides coupons, promotions, and sweepstakes at different times of the year. It is loaded with many how to items.
One of the best things that I like about the Suddenly Pasta Salad, is that it gives a cook the ability to experiment with it. To try different recipes as well as preparation methods.
The six different types of Salad mix has something for everybody. If one doesn’t appeal to you, then probably another will. Betty Crocker is a member of the General Mills Sales Inc.
