When I first bought my Samsung 40″ 1080p HDTV, I was told that I was going to want to buy an HDMI Monster Cable by the Best Buy sales associate. He told me if I was getting the HDTV deal, which included a Playstation 3, that I would enjoy cleared, sharper and better picture quality with an HDMI Cable. Me being new to the whole world of HDMI held on to every word he said. So before laying out the cash for the HDTV PS3 combo deal, I went over to the racks where cables galore were lined up. Gold plated cables, component cables, cables that did this, cables that did this, but needed that to do this. Ahh! It was enough to cause an immediate headache.
The salesman took a clear plastic package from one of the shelves, and showed it to me. He assured me that this Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable, was top of the line, the best on the market and all this other hoohah.
Then I asked the dude the price. I wanted to die when he told me just under $80.00. He of course was not including tax, because the Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable comes to $79.99. So what he should have said was, ‘just over eighty’.
He saw that he had pushed the envelope. My face looked less than thrilled, so he offered to sell it to me for $50.00 instead of the price tagged on it. I didn’t think Best Buy was allowed to drop prices on the spot like that, but I guess when you’re dropping over 2 grand on a TV Playstation 3 combo deal, they try and suck a few hundred more dollars from you by offering discounts galore.
The Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable comes in a hard plastic package. You know the kind of plastic packages everyone hates… the kind that if you are not careful, you’ll cut yourself trying to pry it open. Yeah that kind.
Inside you have a cable.
For those less electronic savvy, it looks like a goddamn cable- nothing more, nothing less. I myself was pretty amazed that this little 4 foot cable actually would have cost me $80.00 had I not been offered discounts.
Hooking the Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable up was a cinch, and doesn’t require any skills. You simply locate an available HDMI port on your HDTV, and then hook the other end to your HDMI compatible electronic. Whether it be an HD Cable box, or in our case, a Playstation 3 console.
Before hooking it up though, my boyfriend had a brighter idea. He instead set the Playstation 3 up using the available wires that came with the box. The normal component cables.
He wanted to test it to see if using an HDMI cable made a difference.
Using the cables the PS3 came with worked fine, and graphics, and picture looked simply stunning. We honestly did not think that plugging the Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable in would make a difference, because truly we felt it couldn’t get better.
Did It Get Better Plugging In The Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable?
I did not think the picture quality could get any better, but after plugging in the Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable, I was shocked to see that picture quality had improved so much so that it was definitely, and easily recognized.
Overall, I was very impressed with the Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable, and would highly recommend it to those looking to get the best quality from their HDTV.
But then the issue of cheap brand HDMI vs high end Monster Cables comes in to play.
Over and over again, I have come across numerous forums, and blogs discussing HDMI Cables, and how Monster is a total rip off. They claim you could get the same quality using a cheap end HDMI Cable.
This may be true. However, my brother decided to save himself a few dollars by purchasing a low end HDMI Cable for only $25.00. He plugged it in, and the quality was awful. So much so that he went out and bought a Monster Cable.
I’m not trying to get you to go out and buy a Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable if you are looking to save money, but I will say that when he exchanged his lower end HDMI Cable, for a Monster HDMI, the problem was solved.
You get what you buy, is all I’m saying. Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable is high priced, but delivers high quality picture.
I couldn’t of been more happy with what the Monster Cable – Ultra Series 600 4′ HDMI A/V Cable brought out in my TV.
