After last night’s dismal performances, Jason Castro needs to go. As likable as he is, his level of talent and discipline do not rival that of the other American Idol contestants.
Jason Castro is Too Laid-Back
Part of Jason Castro’s charm will also be his downfall. He is laid-back, mellow and seems relaxed most of the time on American Idol. But he may be too laid-back for this stage of the competition.
Jason Castro seems to be coasting through elimination, thanks to his strong teen girl fan base. His popularity may even win him an undeserved top three spot, at the expense of a more talented and serious performer.
Jason Castro proved last night that he is an undisciplined performer. Forgetting the lyrics to a song, at this stage of the American Idol competition should be unforgivable. If there had been a gong on the stage, someone would have been banging it, and sending him home.
Jason Castro “I Shot the Sheriff”
Sometimes I wonder if Jason Castro is not just trying to play a big joke on the American Idol audience. It was almost embarrassing to watch him sing this song. I felt bad for him, because he seems like a nice enough person.
But, his lackluster performances belongs more in a dorm lounge after hours than on American Idol. It was as if he were not even trying, and he doesn’t really care one way or another if he stays or goes.
Jason Castro “Mr. Tambourine Man”
To further showcase his lack of effort, Jason Castro proceeded to mess up Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man.” He forgot the lyrics early on in the song. He forgot a lot of lyrics.
Yes, he kept going. That was a good move. What was not good is that Jason Castro, as a Final Four contestant on American Idol should not be forgetting the words. He should have stayed up all night to memorize those lyrics if he needed to do that. Carly Smithson would not have forgotten the lyrics.
Jason Castro Should Not Be in the Top Three
Maybe Jason Castro is just happy that he made the top 10. It does mean that he gets to go on tour, He will get to perform. Maybe that’s all he wants. Hopefully the fans can see that the other three American Idol contestants have both the talent and the drive to be the American Idol. Jason Castro may have talent, but he would rather let someone else do the driving.
