Life is more joyful when one pursues optimism. Find some time every day to search for joy. Even the briefest break from the frantic rushing about that everyday life mandates makes joy easy to find. So stop and take a few seconds or minutes to focus on the beauty of life.
Feel the sun on your body, examine the beauty of a flower. Feel the grass under your feet. Take a deep breath and express aloud your gratitude to be alive to experience a beautiful day. Feel the joy of knowing that every day is precious and that you matter on this earth.
Work to simplify your life so you are free from distraction and may focus on the joy around you. Clutter just adds to feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Have only objects you cherish in the home.
“Remember this, very little is needed to make a happy life.” Marcus Aurelius
Don’t put important activities off. One cannot count on the future, we only have certainty today. Actively work to achieve the goals on your wish list for your life. Have adventures and pack a lot into each day. Life is short, play hard!
“Life is ours to spend, not to be saved.” D.H. Lawrence
Be grateful for what you have and work to help others who may be struggling. It is easy to be blasé about one’s blessings in life. Often we forget that much of life is luck. Maybe you were lucky and have an abundant life. Someone else may need a bit of help until luck finds them again.
“Whosoever brings sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” James Matthew Barrie
Don’t be shy about celebrating. Find the joy in achievements whether large or small. Congratulate and celebrate when others have achievements and honor your self with festivities too when goals are achieved or small successes are showing you the path to your future.
“It is right to celebrate.” Saint Luke
Have Adventures !
Plan short outings and longer trips to refresh your senses and give you a new perspective on life. Recharge your batteries as often as needed via calm time to yourself or raucous participation in the chaotic masses of humanity. Get away from your everyday life and seek adventures to nurture your wanderlust, creativity, and free spirit.
“Voyage, travel, and change of place impart vigor.” Seneca
To Thine Own Self Be True
Follow your heart and soul to your dreams. Do not listen to the naysayers in life. Too many people are eager to shoot down the dreams of others. Never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot achieve. Only you have the right to set your path in life.
“Human happiness and human satisfaction must ultimately come from within oneself.” Dalai Lama
