World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest pay per view of the year is Wrestlemania and every main event has featured some of the top WWE superstars competing for the gold year after the year. Other than the top match there are several great mid-card matches including many tag teams. One of these tag teams is the Legion of Doom and they have had a huge impact during their four Wrestlemania appearances that have made WWE history. Here is a detailed look at the Legion of Doom’s Wrestlemania appearances.
Wrestlemania VII: Legion of Doom’s first Wrestlemania appearance was a memorable one as they proved their power as a tag team. They went up against the team of Power and Glory that left that team with neither of those as they quickly dismantled them and got the victory in less than a minute. They finished the team off with their effective Doomsday Device, where the opponent is put onto either Hawk’s or Animal’s shoulders or the other teammate executes a flying clothesline from the top rope. It is one of the most effective tag team maneuvers ever and it worked easily for them in their Wrestlemania debut.
Wrestlemania 13: The Legion of Doom left the WWE for a while, but they would make their comeback and be known as L.O.D 2000. This time they were in a heated feud with the Nation of Domination and teamed up with Ahmed Johnson for a Chicago Street Fight against three of the Nation’s members. This was pretty much a non-stop brawl and the Legion of Doom picked up the victory with a 2×4 shot to the skull of Crush. This match did not showcase the best wrestling moves, but was very entertaining and kept the Legion of Doom’s impressive Wrestlemania streak alive.
Wrestlemania 14: LOD 2000 helped kick off Wrestlemania XIV with a tag team battle royal, featuring fifteen WWE tag teams and the winners going on to challenge the tag team champions at the next pay per view. Once again the Legion of Doom showed that they had what it takes and easily won the Battle Royal, eliminating teams like the Nation of Domination, Quebecers, Too Much, and the Godwins.
Wrestlemania XV: Before the Wrestlemania pay per view actually began, Legion of Doom participated in a tag team battle royal on Sunday Night Heat. This battle royal would determine who would get the tag team title shot later in the night on the pay per view. Up against superstars like the Hardys, Viscera, Bradshaw, Test, and the Godfather, Legion of Doom’s Wrestlemania streak came to an end, as they were tossed out and eliminated from the match.
They dominated most of their Wrestlemania appearances, and due to the untimely death of Hawk, they will not have any future Wrestlemania appearances, but fans will always remember the matches they had at Wrestlemania.
