The cold hard facts surrounding global warming paint a startling picture of our future and the future of our children. What’s more, there are a number of scientists warning that unless immediate action is taken to combat it, we could find ourselves locked in an irreversible cycle.
As a result, heat-related deaths would greatly increase. Hurricanes and storm surges would be much more intense, inundating coastal regions causing insect infestation which is a breeding ground for disease.
While the cause of global warming may be debatable, the fact remains that the planet is certainly heating. Some believe the galactic alignment, which is predicted to be complete by December 12, 2012 has something to do with the heating of our planet because other planets are experiencing global warming as well.
For the last few years, the planet itself has been in a state of unrest. Earthquakes are not only increasing, they are becoming more intense. China and Egypt have lost thousands of lives due to earthquakes. Cyclones and tsunamis have taken several lives along with other climate related catastrophes. These are cold hard facts that we can’t deny.
In the bible, Jesus Christ talked about a future time that sounds a lot like what we’re experiencing today.
“Nation shall rise against nation… and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matt. 24)
Natural disasters are wiping out crops (famine), spawning insect infestation, spreading disease (pestilence). Could we be in the “beginning of sorrows” that Jesus talked about?
“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” (Matt. 24)
The point is that global warming seems to be getting worse. Sea ice is disappearing much more rapidly than predicted, pushing sea levels to alarming heights.
The world is being flooded with dooms day predictions, many of which are hoaxes produced by opportunists who prey on the weak and vulnerable. They are urging people to stock supplies (which they happen to sell) and find a safe place to build underground bunkers.
However, if the predictions of these dooms day prophets were to actually come to pass, no one would survive no matter how well prepared. Besides, there are some things a person simply cannot prepare for.
Nevertheless, having a store of food and water for you and your loved ones is always a good idea, especially in light of how global warming is stirring up our climate and the considerable unrest in the world.
“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.” (Matt. 24)
The fear that plagues many of us is that global warming could be a prelude to something much worse. Those who bury their head in the sand will be the ones who will suffer the most or burden others who were wise enough to prepare.
Be that as it may, in light of so much worldwide instability, the first and foremost thing that any of us should do is draw close to God. We were warned more than 2,000 years ago that these things would happen and if we are indeed approaching the End Times, the worst is yet to come.
“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth… And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” (Luke)
There is only one safe place and that’s Jesus Christ, the son of God. Those who belong to him will be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass.
“…there shall not an hair of your head perish.”
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindred of the earth shall wail because of him. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
