To Make a Free Fabric Key Pouch Pattern You Will Need:
Exterior fabric
Interior Fabric
Fusible Web
Zipper
Key Ring
Scissors
Sewing Machine
To get started you want to cut out 2 pieces of exterior fabric, fusible interfacing, and interior fabric to 4 inches by 5 inches.
Now, you will also need one piece of the exterior fabric and interfacing cut out to 1.5 inches wide and 2 inches long. This will be the handle or fabric loop that holds the key ring on.
To get started you want to make the small loop first. Iron the fusible interfacing to the back of the fabric. Fold the fabric in half with the wrong sides together lengthwise.
Iron flat. Reopen and then fold each side in to the ironed fold. Iron flat again. Now, sew this seam shut. Do this close to the open side.
You can sew along the other side to create matching stitch lines.
Now, on to assembling the key pouch pattern body.
Take one piece of exterior fabric and lay it in front of you. The longer side is the top. Place your zipper face down on the fabric.
You want to take the top edge of the zipper and line it up to the top edge of the fabric. To add the liner of the key pouch you wan t to top this off with a piece of interior fabric.
Lay this piece pattern side down lining up the top edges again.
Use your sewing machine to sew these together along the top edge wheel they are all lined up.
Now, open this up to expose the other free side of the zipper. Repeat the same process to make the other side of the free key pouch pattern.
Now, take the whole piece of fabric and open it so that the exterior sides are laying face together and the liners are face together with the zipper in the middle.
Fold the small key loop in half. Slide the metal key ring on the loop. Lay the inside the to exterior fabric about 1.5 inches down from the zipper. Pin in place.
Sew the outer edges together leaving a small opening in the bottom of the liner. This needs to be about 3 inches open.
Turn the whole key pouch pattern inside out and then sew the opening in the liner shut!
You free key pouch pattern is finished!
