So this weekend I had the worst possible thing happen to me; EVER! I’m 25 years old, never once had stitches, a bump, bruise, or sever cut. I figured I’m a relatively safe person, I’m no daredevil, so I’m pretty confident in thinking that I’d never have a need for a hospital visit to the emergency room.
However this weekend, I found myself there. Swinging on a swing, and my Bull Terrier thought that it was play time. Bull Terriers are powerful dogs, so the smallest nip, could actually be quite the gash.
Low and behold, I had quite the gash… flesh hanging out and all. Yippie!
What sucked was that they could not put stitches in the wound because it was right in the back bend of my leg. Instead I get to walk around with the wound open allowing it to heal naturally. It is not as bad as it sounds. I bandage the wound with gauze layered in Neosporin, and tape it up.
At home we had this crappy medical silk tape that truly would not stick to my skin for squat. My boyfriend had to go out and buy something new, something that would stick to my skin and not fall off…yet easy to remove without stretching skin.
He came home with Durapore Multi-Purpose Silk Tape, with a 2 inch depth. The roll came with 10 yards of tape, which for me would be enough till the wound healed.
The tape itself comes like any ordinary tape, stuck on a cylinder roll. The tape itself is white, and easy to remove, so you don’t have to worry about folding it over for easy access during your next use.
I removed my old bandaged gauze, and added a new pad of gauze. Next I yanked some of the Durapore silk tape off of the roll. I was surprised at how easy it ripped. This allowed me to quickly tape up the gauze without having to look at the wound for too long.
I stuck the tape around all 4 edges of the gauze and moved around a bit to see how well it would hold. Sure enough the tape stood stuck to my skin, allowing me to move around without having to worry about it falling off.
As much as this wound sucks, and limits my mobility, I am grateful that I was given reliable silk tape to keep the gauze in place. Best of all though, was that Durapore Silk Tape was also recommended by my doctor. Figured I’d pass that along to anyone who is looking for reliable silk tape.
Another excellent thing that I may as well mention about Durapore Multi-Purpose Silk Tape is that it does not fray. The edges stay true to their original form, with no sticky threads hanging loose.
Now with silk tape that sticks this well one would think that it would be a real pain in the arse to remove the tape. I am happy to note that it did not hurt much at all. Yes the tape will rip up any hair that you may of placed on it…(I recommend you shave the area before applying this tape), however if there is no hair in the area there is no pain, no stretching/ripping; just smooth removal.
Seriously one does not appreciate silk tape until they have something happen to them badly enough to where they actually need it. Since this incident I have been nothing but grateful to find a reliable, pain free silk tape. It is the only silk tape I will use from here on out. It stays put until I remove it, it does not fall off, and does not leave residue behind for me to have to clean. I’m truly grateful.
I highly recommend Durapore Multi-Purpose Silk Tape.
Where To Buy:
I imagine my boyfriend picked this up at a local drug store. I didn’t go with him, so I am not 100% entirely sure. After a quick google search though I was able to locate the tape for sale online. Click here for really low prices on the silk tape.
-DO NOT PLACE DURAPORE SILK TAPE DIRECTLY OVER THE ACTUAL WOUND!
