If you need some spice in your life there are plenty of spicy and flavorful restaurants in Chicago. Chicago is known for its Cajun eateries. If you have not had Cajun food in Chicago you are really missing out. Read on to find the hot spots for Cajun food in Chicago.
My first recommendation is Heaven on Seven a great place to have a Cajun meal. If you are into breakfast and brunch this is a great place to come and bring the family. The price range at the Heaven on Seven is $21-$30; this shows you that you are getting quality food. This is definitely not a fast food joint.
There are two things that Heaven on Seven is known for. The number one thing is their Gumbo! There Gumbo will remind you of some good ole home cooking in the southern states like Alabama and Florida. Another item you must try is the spicy cornbread. Don’t worry the cornbread will not burn your mouth up, but it does have a kick to it.
There are various types of hot sauces to choose from and the coconut cake is to die for. All of their food is full of flavor and fresh.
The atmosphere is lighthearted and fun! The staff is great with such friendly personalities. I think one of the things that make the environment so nice is the fact that they play music for the guest. The music is lively and bright.
You will find that you will not have to wait forever to be seated. They try to serve all of their guest as quickly as possible. They will be attentive to your needs so that you may have the best experience.
Another option that you have is the Redfish Restaurant. This Cajun restaurant is located on State Street so it is right in the middle of all Chicago’s happenings! The price range is the same as Heaven on Seven; you will pay $21-$30.
The quality of food is definitely in competition with Heaven on Seven. The richness of the food here will be impressive to you. One meal that I recommend is the Cherry Cola Burger! I know that sounds a little weird, but the taste will overwhelm your taste buds! It is basically a BBQ burger with a sweet BBQ sauce! Don’t let the name deter you from something so delicious. You will also want to try the spicy shrimp. Pretty much anything you try here will be satisfying to you!
The service you will receive will make you feel right at home. They are nice and accommodating. They do contribute to the overall atmosphere. One thing that makes this such a fun environment is the bands that they have come every Friday night. The cool thing is that there is plenty of room to get up and dance! Guests do take advantage of that!
Blue Bayou is another place that you might want to checkout in your fabulous stay in Chicago. What is really neat about this place is that it is really kid friendly. The atmosphere is set up to make sure that they have a good time too. The staff here is fun to be with so they help create a great environment.
The price range here is $21-$30 and you will have a wonderful choice of Cajun and Creole food. You can expect to thoroughly enjoy your food here. The quality and preparation of the food here is great. I recommend the BBQ shrimp and the pecan crusted tilapia. The Gumbo is another great meal that I would encourage you to try.
Dixie Kitchen is wonderful because they have food items like Cajun style fried green tomatoes that people go crazy over! You will most likely pay around $20 for a full meal including dessert. Speaking of dessert you will want to try their bread pudding. One thing that they are famous for are their greens! Try their greens with their po’boy’s catfish! I am telling you it will be hard for you to discern which dish you should try. I would say to go there very hungry!
This is a great environment for kids. The service is great because they are so attentive and really desire for their guests to have a great time! There is plenty of seating and is a great place to come with a group of friends. The atmosphere is very home like it is not fancy at all, but it is comfortable!
My last recommendation for is the Bourbon Street restaurant. The people that work here are fun loving and sweet. Here at Bourbon Street they are big on entertainment and making their guest feel like they can be themselves and have fun. The atmosphere is like a dance club and there is plenty of fun music to dance to while you are there!
Their main dish that I would highly recommend to you is the Chicken Gumbo. This is the one dish that they are known for. Anything that you can eat here will satisfy your Cajun craving!
I would say be ready to spend about $20-$50 per person here. This is more of an adult environment. There is beer and a sports bar, so you might want to get a sitter if you have kids.
