You may have a guy to buy you gifts and take you out on Valentine’s Day, but your single friends who don’t could end up sitting at home alone and depressed. You may have been there yourself, and while you can’t go out and just find Mr. Right for your friend to spend the special day with, you can at least brighten it for them by letting them know you care.
You could take your friend on a girl’s night out the day before or after and buy her a few drinks or dinner or take her to a movie. It’s probably not a good idea to try setting her up on a blind date with a friend of your guy, co-worker, etc. on Valentine’s Day because that could lead to an awkward experience for everyone involved, but if you want to try and set her up before Valentine’s Day to see if any sparks fly, as long as she’s actually willing to participate, give it a shot. By doing this, who knows? She may end up with a date, after all.
If you want to get your friend a gift that makes her feel good, you could go the normal V-Day route and get her some expensive chocolate or jewelry, or you could be a little more creative.
You could get her a movie or CD you know she likes, or a gift card to her favorite store, or if you want to get really creative, you could make her a Valentine’s Day gift basket.
You can find a variety of large baskets at craft stores to choose from. If you can find some that are Valentine’s Day themed or that are red or pink, those would be best.
Now you can get creative with what you put in it. Make sure everything you get is pink or red to stay with the theme! You can get her favorite candy, like the mini Reese’s peanut butter cups in the red and pink foil. You can find red or pink lip gloss or lotion. Bubble bath, bath beads, and shower gel would be great, and maybe a bottle of pink champagne or wine. You could get her a pink or red pen and notepad and picture frame. A pink or red bathrobe and slippers are also a great idea. Most gals love scented candles, too. Basically, if you find something that’s pink or red that you think she’ll like, get it. You can hit stores like Target and Wal-Mart or Linens n’ Things. You may also try dollar stores and stores like Bath and Body Works. Not only will your friend appreciate the gift, you’ll have fun finding things to get her.
It’s also important to remember not to flaunt what your guy gave you for Valentine’s Day too much or talk for hours about how great he his and how great of a time you had. After Valentine’s Day, try to make time for just you and your friend and focus on having a good time together. You may not be able to give her the perfect guy for Valentine’s Day, but you can remind her of what a great friend she is and make her feel special and loved.
