Any parent with tween aged children are thoroughly familiar with Webkinz. A craze that is in proportion with the Cabbage Patch Kids and Tickle Me Elmo, Webkinz has captivated children and pre teen aged youngsters. Both my children received several Webkinz for Christmas from relatives and friends. Upon becoming completely enamored with her Webkinz, my younger daughter began to notice all the other Webkinz themed items for sale. This is how we became familiar with Webkinz Strawberry Body Mist.
For those not familiar with Webkinz, here is a brief summary. Webkinz are stuffed animals. There are Webkinz monkeys, elephants, cats, dogs and many other to choose from. Each Webkinz comes with a unique alpha and numerical code that can be plugged into the official website. After registering your Webkinz online, the fun begins. Each Webkinz stuffed animal corresponds with a virtual pet on line. You can feed, care for, play games with and buy things for your virtual Webkinz counterpart. The children must keep up with the care and attention of their virtual pet to ensure it’s health and happiness.
After the widespread success of the Webkinz, it wasn’t long before the marketing division of the company realized the goldmine they had on their hands. All of a sudden, other Webkinz products began to surface. Tee shirts, key chains, body mists and lip gloss are just a few.
My younger daughter had received some money for her birthday. After saving a portion, she was free to spend the remainder. When visiting a local shop, she spotted Webkinz Strawberry Body Mist on the rack. This product was priced at six dollars for a very tiny container. As soon as she saw the name on the bottle, she had to have it.
Not wanting my daughter to spend six dollars on what I knew was a waste of money, I tried to give my little curly top a quick lesson in marketing and clever advertisement. Ha! Try explaining that to an eight year old eager to part with her money for a little tiny container of repulsive smelling spritz with the perky picture and the Webkinz name.
And repulsive it is. Webkinz Strawberry Body Mist is so sickeningly sweet, I had to beg my daughter to not spray any more of it, once she started. The scent is closer to Watermelon than it is to Strawberry, but overall it is absolutely nauseating. Not only was this outrageously overpriced, it doesn’t even smell good. I would rate Webkinz Strawberry Body Mist zero stars out of five. Not only is the scent very unappealing, the price is ridiculous. Steer clear of this product the next time you are shopping with your little Webkinz fan.
